"Smile" to be the theme at Pigeon District Library PIGEON - “Smile” will be the theme for Tuesday, March 2. Lap-Sit Story Time is 10 a.m. with parent and child attending the Story Time. Pre-School Story Hour is at 10:30 a.m. *USED BOOK SALE: The Friends of the Pigeon District Library will be having its March Used Book Sale on Saturday, March 6 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Prices range from 25 cents to $3. *FAMILY MOVIE: Thursday, March 11, 4:30 p.m., “Where the Wild Things Are” (PG -101 min) “Maurice Sendak's classic story about Max, a rambunctious and sensitive boy who escapes to where the Wild Things are. Max lands on an island where he meets mysterious and strange creatures whose emotions are as wild and unpredictable as their actions.” *COMPUTER WORKSHOPS: Led by Kim Gaeth, the following workshops will be provided free of charge to area residents: Saturday, March 13, 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.: “Introduction to Computers; ” Saturday, March 20, 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., “Introduction to Word Processing;” and, Saturday, March 27, 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., “Introduction to the Internet.” Class size is limited for these workshops. Pre-registration is required. Sign up sheets are at the Pigeon District Library. *ADULT WINTER READING PROGRAM: The Pigeon District Library’s Adult Winter Reading Program goes until Monday, March 15. Adult patrons who participate have a lot of fun! Fill out an entry slip each time you visit the Pigeon District Library and check out books, magazines, or books on CD or tape. CONGRATULATIONS! to: Yvonne Bedell, our third winner in the weekly drawing for the Adult Winter Reading Program. Yvonne won a free book, along with a 12-pack of Coca- Cola donated by 1st and Main Party Store and a “Swipe” game donated by Harjo’s Ben Franklin; Maxine Rice, our fourth winner in the weekly drawing for the Adult Winter Reading Program. Maxine received a free book, along with a Lighthouse Bird Feeder, donated by Caseville True Value Hardware; and, Bob Tate, our fifth winner in the weekly drawing for the Adult Winter Reading Program, who received a free book along with a $10 Gift Certificate donated by Riverside Roadhouse from Caseville. *ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS: This spring (March through May), the Pigeon District Library will host a monthly afternoon program for preschoolers, children in grades K-2, and grades 3-5. The preschool program will include a story, craft, and activities; the K-2 program will include a story, craft, and snack; and, the program for children in grades 3-5 will include a snack and activities centered around a paperback book, which the Pigeon District Library will purchase. (Those who sign up for this activity will receive a free copy of the book being discussed.) Income received: $158.10 Copier; $278.75 Fines; $61.00 Faxes. Inter-Loan statistics included 270 items borrowed and 366 items loaned to other libraries through the Valley Library Consortium.
